We Are a Bible-Believing Church...
The African Methodist Episcopal Church is a denomination that believes the Holy Bible is inspired Word of G*d. We believe the Scriptures are G*d-breathed. Therefore, they are an authority for faith and life. The Bible is the true basis of all AME Church doctrine.
We are honest about our use of the Scripture, recognizing that all who engage the Bible are interpreters. Our interpretation of Scripture is balanced with experience, reason, and tradition.
We Are an Inclusive Church That Welcomes Everyone...
The African Methodist Episcopal Church is a loving Church whose doors swing on welcome hinges for people of all colors and walks of life. While founded by people of African descent, the AME Church invites into membership everyone who is in search of a place to worship G*d in spirit and in truth.
We Are a Teaching Church...
The African Methodist Episcopal Church is a teaching, learning, and doing Church. As members of the body of Christ, we believe all Christians share a continuing need to enrich and enlarge their understanding of Christianity by studying and applying G*d's word. Once taught discerned truths of Scripture, people of faith are equipped to become committed disciples of Jesus Christ.
We Are a Discipling and Witnessing Church...
Teaching others what they have learned about Christ is the work of Christian disciples. This is how the Good News about salvation and G*d's redeeming grace gets spread around the world. It also is how new disciples are born.
Learning and passing it on. That is the essence of discipleship.
